21 Day Warrior Prayer Challenge Week #5

I know this is the last day of the prayer challenge, but it is not the last day I will be praying for my son.  I'm afraid I didn't do the challenge as I hoped, but I did pray everyday for the 21 days.  I am so thankful for this resource that has helped me in my parenting and given me a focus on what I can do to teach my son about being godly.

Blessings to all you moms of boys, Shonda

Boogie Wipes Review and Giveaway!!

Ugh, I hate cleaning up snot!  My son can get the runniest nose at times.  I reach for the tissues and it smears all over his nose.  He turns his head and now there's more on his chin and cheeks.  I grab another hoping to wipe it all off for good and now it's dried and crusty and even harder to get off than before especially now that my son is wiggling away from me.  HELP!

Oh, wait, Boogie Wipes is JUST the answer I need!  Thank goodness for this product.  Why?  Let me tell you!

This unique product is:
*made with natural saline
*alcohol free
*contains moisturizers with Vitamin E, Aloe and Chammomile
*lightly scented (great grape, minty menthol, fresh scent and simply unscented)
*gentle enough for all ages
*hypoallergenic
*phthalate and paraben free

What I like about these wipes is that they are soft and easily catch the runny nose without getting messy.  The cleanup is quick and simple.  The best part is that when I used the Great Grape scented ones, my son was eagerly pushing his face into the Boogie Wipe and exclaiming "Mmm, smells good!"  He came running to me instead of me running after him.  I also really like the Boogies on the Run small packs that I can slip into the diaper bag for when we are out and about.

Boogie Wipes comes in:
*30 count packs
*small packs called Boogies on the Run
*And coming soon...90 count canister (perfect for offices and classrooms)

Attention: Teachers!

May 6th is National Provider Appreciation Day, and in honor of the day Boogie Wipes has created an exclusive Boogie Wipes kit which contains: a poster with Save the Sleeve pledge guidelines, 50 Boogie Wipes samples, $.50 OFF coupons, 2 classroom canisters and 10 Free Boogs, the Boogie Buddy classroom mascot.

21 Day Warrior Prayer Challenge Week #4

I must confess that I have not been as diligent in praying every hour like I planned to do for this challenge.  I have had some very HARD emotional things going on this last week (passing away of a friend, my 90 year old grandma's health issues, the fact that my mom can't be here for the birth of my baby and reliability of getting childcare for the son that I'm praying for!!).  I know God is in control of all things and I needn't let these life situations pull me down.

However, I am still praying all the prayers and combining a few each time so I can get them all in before the day is over.  I am finding some great verses to speak into my son's heart and possibly use for memorization some day.  I'm really enjoying Brooke's daily blog thoughts that keep the focus of what we are praying for that day.

I've had a few rough days with my son and as I've been praying these prayers for gentleness, patience, kindness and goodness, I find that God is working in my heart as well.  It's all a process.

Like I said before, I plan to keep using these prayers for my son and maybe pray a whole week on one topic.

Food Fun 4 Kids: Apple Cheddar Waffles

I needed to make some quick, but healthy waffles.  I didn't have time for "from scratch" but I made these waffles that have some healthy ingredients that are easy to add to any waffle mix.

Follow directions on Bisquick or pancake/waffle mix.
Add one grated apple, 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese and 1/2 cup wheat germ.
My son eats these up!  Easy to make a big batch and freeze.

21 Day Warrior Prayer Challenge Week #3

It's been such a privilege to pray for my son, but more than that, I'm learning what God's Word is showing me about what to teach to my son.  I find that during this week as we have started to pray the fruits of the Spirit that I am in need of many of these attributes.  How can I show my son what love, joy and peace are if I am not living them myself?  So, Lord, please give me those fruits so I can share them with my son that he may make them a part of his life as well.

Learning Activity: Car Floor Map

I try so many ways to keep my little guy entertained because we believe in a TV free environment.  I loved playing with cars when I was a little girl and Shrade has his cars practically glued to his hands all the time.  He usually "drives" them all over the couches, tables (not allowed) and even on us (his parents!).  We have built "roads" with blocks, but I decided to make a portable car floor map complete with stop signs which is his new favorite thing to find when we are driving- "STOP sign, red, octagon"  he yells!  Shrade is enjoying driving his cars along the road and we can put it away or bring it out whenever we want!

Brightly Beaming Resources- Week #8: Sun

This week we learned about the sun.  Unfortunately, it was rainy all week.  Nevertheless, Shrade caught on to the vocab word- ray- and pointed it out in every book we read.  He also loved our yellow color hunt!  We are just cruising right along with our Brightly Beaming Resources lessons.  I'm loving this format.  It's simple, yet structured in very small bites.

Lots of yellow!

The book- Caliente y brillante was actually called Hot and Bright.  I could only find this Spanish version of the book cover.

21 Day Warrior Prayer Challenge

I just spent the last week praying the Warrior Prayers from Brooke McGlothlin's new ebook.  I took the challenge to pray 10 times a day (weekdays) in 21 different areas for my son.  At first I didn't know how I was going to find time to pray 10 times a day.  I made it a habit to stop at certain hours of the day and get down on my knees, read through the Scripture and pray that short prayer.  It wasn't hard, but it definitely gave me time to focus on God.  My child is a gift from God and the best gift I can give back to God is pray for him.  I love these prayers and I will continue this practice LONG after the challenge is over.  I'm also so encouraged by Brooke's thoughts for each day as we pray.  Not only am I lifting up my son, but I'm changing too.  If I want my son to be more like Christ in these areas, then I should strive to be more like Christ in these areas too.

Here is what we prayed about this week:
*Obedience
*Submission to Authority
*Integrity
*Avoiding Foolishness
*Pride
*Purity

Learning Activity: Playdough letters/Matching

The other day when I pulled out some new playdough I started making letters and having Shrade tell me the letter that I made.  Better yet, I had him go find the matching magnetic letter from our letter board.  It was so fun to watch him figure out the letter that matched.  Easy and fun!

What's on our Bookshelf? I Can Help by David Hyde Costello

This is an absolutely adorable book that we picked up from the library.  This poor little duck gets lost and another animal says "I can help."  So the duck reunites with his family.  In the meantime this animal needs help and another one comes along.  This happens for several jungle animals until the duck again helps one of the animals but gets lost himself.  At the end they all help duck to find his family.  My son enjoys this book because he gets to say, "I can help."  And he knows exactly when it's coming!

21 Day Warrior Prayer Challenge

How many times have I wanted to pray significantly for my son?  Well, I was so excited to discover Brooke McGlothlin's book Warrior Prayers.  This month, Brooke is hosting a challenge to pray for our sons for 21 days in 21 different areas.  This book does not compare to any other.  Each day, Brooke has designated 10 prayers for one particular area.  Today's focus is Obedience.  I am on my knees 10 times today to pray specific prayers for my precious son.  How about you?  Would you like to have the privilege to bring your precious warrior before the throne of God?  I'm so excited to see what God will be doing in my life as well as my son's as I take the time to pray.
